Description stupendoussteve 2006-05-31 22:58:01 UTC
BlockHosts is a utility (a python script) that scans the sshd logs to look for failed login attempts, and adds the IP addresses into /etc/hosts.deny.

Is there any possibility of this utility being added to portage? The BlockHosts site is at http://www.aczoom.com/cms/blockhosts/ and there's a quick setup howto at http://www.linux.com/article.pl?sid=05/09/15/1655234 (in the middle of the page). If there is an existing utility in there to do this, please let me know.

Thanks for your comments.

How does this differ from app-admin/denyhosts?

It doesn't! I was surprised there was nothing in there, and apperantly for good reason.
