Description Ryan Neufeld 2006-05-30 14:39:21 UTC
I have no idea what is causing the problem, dmesg gives no clues, acpid seems to be running happily, making the acpi as modules does not seem to help.

When I use a suspend2 kernel newer than 2.6.15-r7 I get this problem.
I hibernate, and resume everything works. I do it again, and everything seems to be working, yet acpid is not getting acpi events.

Unsupported kernel....

Tried restarting acpid?

Uhh What??? I am using a kernel from portage!! How is that unsupported?!

Yup, several times, even tried stopping it, reloading modules, and starting. This is my last resort.

Its no wonder people don't like using this bugzilla when the first reply they
get it is "Unsupported <thing> go to <link>"

Calm down, please. Please see http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-kernel.xml for an explanation of supported vs. unsupported kernel sources in Gentoo.

Please try reproducing this problem with vanilla-sources-2.6.17_rc5.
Comment 6 Ryan Neufeld 2006-05-31 07:44:04 UTC
I assume you mean for me to manually patch the kernel and see if that fixes it?

Ok, I can try that
Comment 7 Ryan Neufeld 2006-05-31 09:52:57 UTC
I just emerged vanilla-sources-2.6.17_rc7 and the suspend2 patch failed to apply.
I then emerged vanilla-sources-2.6.17_rc2 and applied the same patch, but now it wont even hibernate properly.
Comment 8 Henrik Brix Andersen 2006-06-21 08:13:24 UTC
I meant for you to try the in-kernel suspend, not suspend2.
Comment 9 Ryan Neufeld 2006-06-21 10:36:03 UTC
Ok, so you mean for me to try supspend1? As far as I know that wont work with ati drivers.
