Description Robert S 2006-05-28 05:56:01 UTC
I've just got ajaxterm working on my amd64 machine by adding the ~amd64 keyword.

The init script does not work on my x86 machine (python 2.4.2), but it does on amd64. I was able to get it working using the command "ajaxterm --daemon" on x86.

Great little package - I'm unable to access my server at work because almost all outgoing ports are blocked.

Are there any security concerns if I use the apache/proxy setup as recommended?

I confirm ajaxterm in portage (0.6) is working on amd64.

I also got 0.7 version working with just changing the version in ebuild.

works for me too.

building the ~x86 code works fine, no ebuild mods, the init script doesn't work, but calling /usr/bin/ajaxterm *does* work.

Version 0.9 works here on ~amd64, and with the init script

About the init script, I add to cut the "--uid=nobody" part off to make it work on my x86 hardened server (this parameter was not there in the 0.7 init script). That should go on a separate bugreport, though.

~amd64 added. Thanks for testing everyone. Bernard, I'm not a hardened user, so I don't know the specifics of an ssh localhost in that environment, but you are running ssh on that server correct?
Comment 5 Bernard Cafarelli gentoo-dev 2006-07-27 02:40:42 UTC
Yes I have a sshd up and running (standard configuration, with a non-standard port to prevent scan), but since the init script is run as root, ajaxterm should start login, and not try ssh @localhost?

Comment 6 Bernard Cafarelli gentoo-dev 2006-07-27 02:51:00 UTC
Just realized... I guess the command run by ajaxterm changes with the -u nobody (and that it does not depend on the real original uid!).

I'll look into it and bugreport if necessary, sorry if it was a false alarm!
