Description Hans de Graaff gentoo-dev Security 2006-05-27 03:30:21 UTC
The ruby 1.8.4.20060226 snapshot that is currently in Gentoo portage does have a reproduceable segmentation fault with the blog package Typo. See this bug for reference: http://www.typosphere.org/trac/ticket/807#preview

This only seems to affect AMD64 (and possibly other 64-bit architectures). I have confirmed that the latest snapshot (2006-05-27) fixes this particular issue, so perhaps this snapshot can be added to Gentoo unstable?

yeah, I plan on trying a new snapshot soon. the last time I tried ( a few weeks ago ) I wasn't able to make it work properly. Maybe some things have been fixed in ruby's cvs since then, though.

I've patched my version of typo to use the new (and otherwise uninstalled) ruby binary. This seems to work fine for typo, but I have not tried installing the new snapshot so I don't know if doing this might cause issues. Should I notice problems with my typo install I'll post them here.

Can't reproduce here, should be fixed with latest stable snapshot, please reopen if it's still an issue.

Confirmed that the latest snapshot fixed it, and apologies for not reporting that right away. Thanks!
