Description Elias Probst 2006-05-27 00:54:04 UTC
Please make the app-office/openoffice ebuild respect the "branding" useflag. The splashscreen which is shown on startup should only be replaced by the Gentoo specific one, when USE="branding" is set.
Couldn't find the lines in the openoffice ebuild, where this is done, so I can't submit a patch to to this.
Maybe somebody knows, where to find the corresponding lines...

First of all, we don't have any OO.org splashscreen to start with... Care to attach one? :=)

The mysterious OOo splash

Uhm... I'm confused. So where does this one come from?
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-27 01:54:42 UTC
Heh, now I'm confused as well... must be something new :=)
Comment 4 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-27 02:00:28 UTC
Though, USE="branding" is not a good idea unless it's a default use flag. See
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.devel/37238 for the whole discussion...

This probably should stay resolved later until there's stuff to use Gentoo-wide.

This splash is only used in the openoffice ebuild, not in openoffice-bin.
Comment 6 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-27 03:29:14 UTC
As this tends to pop up every now and then: There is no such thing as a default splash screen for OOo, every distro uses it's own. The one thing that might come closest is the one used in the official binaries, which has a big Sun logo (and a small text) on it to show that these binaries have been built by Sun. As the source based version is not built by Sun using them would not only be wrong, but possibly even a legal problem in regards to using their logo (though I've to admit I'm not especially skilled to comment on license problems).

About the "mysterious splash": This is not mysterious at all, I did it based on the one used by Sun.

Closing this, nothing to fix here
