Description David ac 2006-05-26 06:52:57 UTC
I've just emerged openoffice-2.0.2-r1 (upgraded from 2.0.1), but now when I load it up, it fails to load.

First I get the following error message:

"Missing vcl resource. This indicates that files vital to localization are missing. You might have a corrupt installation."

Then, it continues to try to load, and, originally, I got the following message:

"iso resource could not be loaded by SfxApplication"

and then it quit. I changed some localle settings on my machine, re-emerged, and now instead of the 2nd message when loading writer it just crashes instead. Note that when I load up the base ooffice2 binary, it loads, but then crashes when I try to create or open a writer (or other OOo) file.

Now, the emerge --info:

oh - and i forgot to add - the 1st error message never went away when I re-merged after changing my localle settings. The message still comes up before it crashes (and in the case of the ooffice2 binary before it loads).
Comment 2 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-26 07:41:35 UTC
Could be that your harddisc got filled up during installation, and instead of cropping out you got a defective install. If that could indeed be the case you should make some room and reinstall

Btw: You really should use a more up-to-date gcc when trying to build OOo, 3.4.x for instance
Comment 3 David ac 2006-05-28 07:16:01 UTC
cheers, thanks! after freeing up an extra gig and after almost 2 days of compiling i've almost completed the gcc-3.4 update and remerged openoffice - and it all works as expected. thanks!
