Looks like they have cleaned the source? I am bumping ati-drivers as I type, all patches are commented out as they are no longer needed. This will be the release for 2.6.16 and 2.6.17.
This release is working pretty well, the anoying kernel panic when stoping gdm has finally gone for me, the only problem i have found is that i can`t disable fsaa, but this is a minor problem, i suposse, im reporting it to ati.

I think that i souldn't be able to install xorg-server-1.1.0 if I'm using this driver because this version isn't binary compatible with xorg-server-1.1.0 (xorg-7.1) but i'm on ~x86 and i'm able to do it after emerge --sync.
