Description John Pyro 2006-05-23 19:59:21 UTC
The original madwifi drivers have no issue holding a connection with a DLink DWL G520. On the other hand, the madwifi-ng drivers fail quite often going up to about 5% packet loss. It will then regain connection for another 5-10 minutes before happening once again.

The issue started when I emerged them after updating everything else one night. I noticed about 2 weeks ago that I had updated my madwifi drivers by accident (never intended to do so) and the problem seems like it must be related for there is no other possibility.

Gentoo 2006.0 fully updated
AMD Athlon TBird 1.4GHz
512 Ram
DLink G520 Wireless, Nvidia 5200FX PCI, onboard sound

I've actually replicated the problem on one other system with the same model card in it. Booted to Gentoo on a Dell with an Intel Celeron 1.3GHz, 512 Ram, onboard sound and graphics with the G520 card. Once I updated the drivers to ng, the problem started again. (The link is fine with madwifi-old as it is called now. I have a directional at. on both the router and the 2 systems so distance isnt the issue)
