Is this a new bug in 2.6.16, or has it happened in other kernels too (which ones?). Are there any known kernels which do not have this bug?

Are there any known kernels which do not have this bug? > i don't know because i accidentaly add pnp support(usualy i don't add it) should i test with others kernels? wich ones(a 2.6.15)? i have also another problem...there is still some standby bugs after removing this pnp support...lol(i'll bugreport later but it can be an interesting information)
Two things to try: Firstly, see if you can reproduce this on the latest development kernel. This is currently 2.6.17-rc5. Secondly, why are you using suspend-to-standby? There are only very small power savings involved there. I think you want to be using suspend-to-RAM (echo mem > /sys/power/state)
