Description DrSlony 2006-05-22 08:38:40 UTC
"emerge ekiga" reports:

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "ekiga" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- net-im/ekiga-2.0.1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

man emerge says I should check /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask
That file does not contain the keyword 'ekiga'
I created /etc/portage/package.unmask and entered:
net-im/ekiga ~x86

emerge ekiga still reports that its masked.

I tried editing package.unmask and changing the line to each of these:
=net-im/ekiga ~x86
net-im/ekiga
=net-im/ekiga
net-im/ekiga-2.0.1 ~x86
=net-im/ekiga-2.0.1 ~x86

Still masked.
Then I was advised to post this bug report.

Comment 1 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-22 08:40:56 UTC
This is not a support forum. Kindly read basic docs on working with portage (and no, package.unmask is NOT the one you want).

Comment 2 DrSlony 2006-05-22 09:13:53 UTC
Problem solved by using:
echo "net-im/ekiga-2.0.1" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
emerge =net-im/ekiga-2.0.1
