I have the same error on ppc (32-bit chroot / 64-bit kernel). It happens when I try to update to -r4, as well as, re-emerge -r3 with gcc 4.1.1 and 3.4.6.

different bug, it's arch specific but generally happens when using binutils-2.17

so if you're using binutils-2.17, you should be using glibc-2.4 :P

file a new bug though if you want to fix it on ppc
