Description Josh Young 2006-05-20 14:10:19 UTC
Gentoo emerged - VMWare Workstation:
1. User apart of vmware group.
2. Configured and started the vmware service.
3. I have recently installed Eclipse, Kdevelop, and Anjunta which may be the cause of the gcc problem.
4. I have tried to setup xgl before and not sure if that may have had something to do with it. I gave up on it.
5. I have done gcc -v and got:
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/specs
Configured with: /var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.4.5-r1/work/gcc-3.4.5/configure --prefix=/usr --bindir=/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/3.4.5 --includedir=/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/include --datadir=/usr/share/gcc-data/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5 --mandir=/usr/share/gcc-data/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/man --infodir=/usr/share/gcc-data/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/info --with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/include/g++-v3 --host=i686-pc-linux-gnu --build=i686-pc-linux-gnu --disable-altivec --enable-nls --without-included-gettext --with-system-zlib --disable-checking --disable-werror --disable-libunwind-exceptions --disable-multilib --disable-libgcj --enable-languages=c,c++,f77 --enable-shared --enable-threads=posix --enable-__cxa_atexit --enable-clocale=gnu

Not portage.
Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-20 14:18:15 UTC
Also vmware-workstation missing...
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-20 14:18:50 UTC
(In reply to comment #2)

Sigh... Also vmware-workstation *version* missing...
Comment 4 Josh Young 2006-05-20 16:10:54 UTC
vmware-workstation 5.5.1.19175-r3 - sorry I thought I got that in there somewhere. It is the one in the portage tree and I do have it installed from emerge. I'm thinking it wants another version of gcc.

You forgot to reopen the bug...
Comment 6 Josh Young 2006-05-21 11:25:06 UTC
I have a feeling this has to do with the Xgl I tried setting up. It has to do with cairo and pango packages. I have it setup through subversion somehow and i'm trying to figure out what I did to remove it.
Comment 7 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-15 15:00:23 UTC
Any word on this?
Comment 8 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-15 15:46:16 UTC
I'm going to assume that it was Xgl and mark this one as NEEDINFO. If there's still a problem and it is reproducable on a "normal" system, feel free to REOPEN.
