I have been trying to contact LSI Logic for over a week now, and they have been very reluctant to help. I figured that I should just ask the experts, and forget about the manufacturer. This does not appear at all to be an issue with Gentoo, but maybe there is a way to insert a newer driver and/or kernel into the boot cd. This is not an Installer bug...
Is this a separate card or on-board? What machine is it? Sun? "White box"?
Please try the 2006.1 release media. It worked perfectly for me.
I'm guessing that this worked? If not, feel free to REOPEN.
