I am familiar with the discussion "[gentoo-user] LaTeX problem" and the reply by Martin Schlemmer of 29 Jan 2002 20:35:17. Anyway, my experiments with Gentoo 1.4rc2 have ended in a TeX installation (tetex-1.0.7-r11) that won't work: ---snip--- kjwolf@golulu:docs $ dvips -o Polizei_Kleve.ps Polizei_Kleve.dvi This is dvips(k) 5.86 Copyright 1999 Radical Eye Software (www.radicaleye.com) ' TeX output 2003.01.06:0032' -> Polizei_Kleve.ps kpathsea: Running mktexpk --mfmode ljfour --bdpi 600 --mag 1+0/600 --dpi 600 ecrm1200 mktexpk: Mismatched mode ljfour and resolution 600; ignoring mode. mktexpk: Running mf \mode:=ljfour; mag:=1+0/600; nonstopmode; input ecrm1200 This is METAFONT, Version 2.7182 (Web2C 7.3.1) I can't find the base file `mf.base'! ---snap--- Doing what M.S. proposed (as I understand it) didn't work: ---snip--- golulu root # inimf mf This is METAFONT, Version 2.7182 (Web2C 7.3.1) (INIMF) (/usr/share/texmf/metafont/config/mf.mf (/usr/share/texmf/metafont/config/mf.ini (/usr/share/texmf/metafont/base/plain.mf ! Does mf.base get generated following this? I get the same output, but it does create mf.base...
It's being generated, but I don't know what to do with it, and, if it's usable at all.
Try putting it in /var/lib/texmf/web2c/
It works. 8-) Now kick me. ;---}
Heh, no need. It should do that automatically, so it's not your fault... We just have to hold out until teTeX 2.0, which should be very soon...
