Description Olivier Crete (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-17 08:35:03 UTC
please do so.. especially x86, the 1.1 version has all kind of problems.

and you need to stable media-libs/libmp4v2-1.4.1 too

and while you are at it.. please do media-libs/faad2-2.0-r11 too.. its a version that's parallel installable with mpeg4ip and that also depends on libmp4v2

ppc has nothing stable, so its optionnal for you guys.
Comment 1 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-25 01:21:33 UTC
I unkeyworded these,

[ebuild R ] media-video/mpeg4ip-1.4.1 +a52 +alsa -arts -esd +ffmpeg +id3 +ipv6 -lame +mmx +mp4live +mpeg2 -nas +player -v4l2 +xvid 0 kB
[ebuild R ] media-libs/libmp4v2-1.4.1 0 kB
[ebuild R ] media-libs/faad2-2.0-r11 -xmms 0 kB

and build them on x86 system with collision-protect. Looks good and say.. didn't break ffmpeg thats currently marked with x86.

Is there a runtime testcase you could suggest, or is this sufficient?

Thanks, drac

This worked fine,

mplayer http://art20.art.utexas.edu/Video/web%20tests/animation-MPEG-4%20100Kbps%20Streaming.mp4

but is it valid test?
Comment 3 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-25 01:36:11 UTC
To that previous,

Opening audio decoder: [faad] AAC (MPEG2/4 Advanced Audio Coding)
AUDIO: 22050 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 16.0 kbit/2.27% (ratio: 2000->88200)
Selected audio codec: [faad] afm: faad (FAAD AAC (MPEG-2/MPEG-4 Audio) decoder)

..still too hasty to press "Commit" button :-)
Comment 4 Olivier Crete (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-25 06:35:51 UTC
what you want to test is mp4player, not mplayer...

Yes, of course. I was just under impression "mplayer -> ffmpeg -> faad2".

Tested mp4player, it works.

x86 done... thanks Samuli...

Also, version 1.1 isn't ported to modular X yet... I hate having to edit my repoman...

quite funny, this is the first mp4 that worked for me on ppc/G4.
On JoseJxs suggestion i tested the mpeg4s avaible on http://www.digimax.com.tw/MPEG4/download_sample_3.htm of which none worked. They all showed a black window - no sound, no video. However each plays fine with mplayer.
Anyway, mp4dump/mp4info/mp4tags (as part of mpeg4ip) work as advertised.

Well, obviously the mp4s in comment #8 were faulty. I've found some more (thanks to nixnut for the URL) and they all work with mp4player. So from my POV ppc's ready.

Stable on ppc, closing bug since we're the last arch to stable.
Thanks for testing Matti! :)
