Description FieldySnuts 2006-05-17 08:24:15 UTC
Any 1.4.0 version of Amarok fails its collection scan for me. Even if I remove ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok and ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc , it still happens.

In more detail, I go through the first run wizard, select my home directory, uncheck watch for changes as I do not like that, then get into Amarok itself. It briefly starts to scan for my collection, the progress bar reaches 75%, stays there for about 5 seconds, then the progress bar disappears. No errors are displayed. No items are found in the collection. Restarting does not help.

I do not see this issue with the betas.

Hi

run amarokcollectionscanner from the command line and see which song makes the scanner crash.

Hello, VR,

Thanks for the tip. Running amarokcollectionscanner -r . (while CWD is ~/) does not seem to crash at any point. Though near the middle, there is a huge output of <dud/><dud/><dud/>.

Running amarok itself again still has the same symptoms i saw as reported.

This is a known problem that is caused by amaroK 1.4.0 (you rebuilt the collection one time with it). Remove collection.db and regenerate the collection and it should work (with 1.4.0a).

For more information, look at amaroK's forum that should carry all the information.
