Not sure whether this is a bug or not.

rc-update allows you to add an application to multiple run levels.

It will happily allow:
rc-update add x boot
rc-update add x default

Nop, you may want to do for example:

  # rc-update add x default
  # rc-update add x nonetwork

or whatever runlevels you may have ...
