Description Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-16 12:12:21 UTC
User provided this crash in gnome-settings-daemon:
/usr/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon
The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 1752 error_code 2 request_code 116 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
[1147804792,000,xklavier.c:XklStartListen/] The backend does not require manual layout management - but it is provided by the application

Note this is not the same as bug #131872, as that patch is already in 2.14.1. It appears to be the same as http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338254

Fix from upstream

Patch from upstream. I'm waiting for someone to confirm a fix before I commit.

This is what I get even using the patch previously posted...

not sure if this can help, the patch doesn't work for me too:

Could you comment on this upstream bug:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342980

I can't do anything diretly, because I can't see the crash...
Comment 6 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2006-11-19 20:34:04 UTC
Upstream bug for this is now http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346928
Comment 7 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-06-15 20:28:02 UTC
Per upstream bug, does this still happen with 2.16 (or even 2.18)?
