could you explain your problem in more detail ?

Could you also try to reproduce this with the latest version in the tree (2.14.5) ?

When I use 'Configure Login Manager' under 'Actions' to change the default welcome to something else I still get "Welcome".  Editing the config file '/etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf' such that: 
DefaultWelcome=false
Welcome=Alternate welcome phrase here
also has no effect.

The latest version 2.14.5 does not have this behavior and seems to work correctly.

As everything below gdm-2.14.9-r1 is now out of the tree, I'm considering this bug as fixed.
