cdparanoia-3.9.8-r3 dies when it does a kernel version check for a conditional patch. This is bad for release media since it breaks PackageCD builds. If i understand the patch right it uses the new scsi generic interface in 2.6 kernels (2.6.15+?) to improve performance. Triggering the patch through linux-headers might be a solution, since it will usually match the major kernel version or worst case scenario be lower (2.4 headers + 2.6 kernel).
news ping?
Created attachment 90565 [details, diff] cdparanoia patch Well, since we build this for the releases and we haven't heard anything, this is the patch I'm going to apply unless there's another fix made before the snapshot. Don't worry, I won't apply this to CVS, just my snapshot... You're more than welcome to use this patch in CVS if you think it works for you. It is just a quick and dirty hack to keep this from stopping the release.
Created attachment 94800 [details, diff] cdparanoia patch for -r4 Here's basically the same patch for -r4...
I've removed the SG_IO patches from 3.9.8-r5, they caused more pain than good. I'll try to bump to the latest version as soon as I can, and see to merge the current patches. New rule about cdparanoia: don't apply redhat patches.
