Description Duncan 2006-05-12 11:00:17 UTC
>>> Emerging (1 of 1) kde-base/libkdepim-3.5.2-r1 to /
>>> checking ebuild checksums
!!! Digest verification failed:
!!! <${PORTDIR}>/kde-base/libkdepim/libkdepim-3.5.2-r1.ebuild
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
!!! Got: 632
!!! Expected: 638

(Local portdir path munged, no need for that to be public info.)

I resynced. Same result. Verified the manifest file with viewcvs. It matches. The ebuild of course doesn't quite match because the $HEADER line differs (the viewcvs has a viewcvs header), but a diff between it and the 632 byte one in my local portage tree says the header line is the only difference.

So... the manifested ebuild would appear to be different than either the one I rsynced, or the one in viewcvs, probably only differing in the $HEADER line. Either that or the one in viewcvs is missing 6 bytes.

Here's the mirror info from emerge --sync:

Original:
>>> Starting rsync with rsync://198.7.230.249/gentoo-portage...
>>> Checking server timestamp ...
This is rsync10.us.gentoo.org.

Resync:
Gentoo Portage/CPAN rsync mirror

IP(s): 209.221.142.124 & 2001:470:1f01:164::4

Versions:
portage-2.1-pre10-r5
rsync-2.6.8

Same here:

>>> emerge (1 of 2) kde-base/libkdepim-3.5.2-r1 to /
>>> md5 files   ;-) libkdepim-3.5.2.ebuild
>>> md5 files   ;-) libkdepim-3.4.3.ebuild
>>> md5 files   ;-) libkdepim-3.4.2.ebuild

!!! Digest verification Failed:
!!!    /usr/portage/kde-base/libkdepim/libkdepim-3.5.2-r1.ebuild
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size

>>> Please ensure you have sync'd properly. Please try 'emerge sync' and
>>> optionally examine the file(s) for corruption. A sync will fix most cases.

Resynced and the same error appears.

yikes.

I think it's because there used to be a libkdepim-3.5.1-r1 that was deleted before I committed this one, so that caused some kind of conflict.

It should be fixed now.

i've still have the error ...

>>> Emerging (1 of 1) kde-base/libkdepim-3.5.2-r1 to /

!!! Digest verification failed:

Comment 4 Duncan 2006-05-13 09:34:56 UTC
It seems fixed, marking it as such.

@ and3k: You probably hadn't allowed enough time for the changes to propagate. Always try to allow two hours before resyncing and checking again. That should give it enough time to propagate from the CVS servers to the main distribution mirror to the various regional mirrors, tho in some cases it may take even longer. If it hasn't propagated in 24 hours, it's time to investigate further.

Thanks caleb for the fix, and everyone else for the me toos. It's always nice to know it's not just me! =8^)
