Upon starting gnome, I get the following error: There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon. Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly. The Settings Daemon restarted too many times GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in. You can adjust themes or background emages, most of the desktop appears to be working ok, except for the fact that you cannot add Applets to gnome-panel. You get the following error when attempting to add an Applet to the panel. There was a problem loading applet 'OAFIID:GNOME_CDPlayerApplet' Details: Unknown CORBA exception id 'IDL:omg.org/CORBA/INV_OBJREF:1.0'
Err, that should read "you cannot adjust themes or background images"
do the steps described in http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8308 solve your problem ?
