SqueakFFIPrims is not being built as part of dev-lang/squeak-3.7.7, even though there I have libffi installed.

Note this in the config output: 

checking for FFI support... requires libffi
checking ffi.h usability... yes
checking ffi.h presence... yes
checking for ffi.h... yes
checking for ffi_call in -lffi... no
******** disabling SqueakFFIPrims
