Description Lance Albertson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-09 08:53:21 UTC
Ok, this can no longer wait and I need to coordinate this upgrade with all of you. The apache upgrade will only apply to folks who have sites on nuthatch. The php upgrade will affect any of you that use php for their apps. I need to figure out a day/time to do this upgrade and sort out any php use flags I need to make sure I have since dev-lang/php changed a bunch of stuff.

I think planet/b2evolution is the only php production app on warbler, so I don't expect that one to be too hard. Nuthatch on the other hand might be a little rough. If everything goes well, I should be able to make the switch painless, but I'm sure I'll miss something.

Btw, we're in need of a webapp admin for the devwiki, so if any of you know of someone that could help, please let me know.

Please reply ASAP so I can get this moving.

Thanks!

I'm (bugs) is good to go on this. Just the usual headsup on the restart of apache.
Comment 2 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-09 13:02:22 UTC
no problem with me
Comment 3 Lance Albertson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-09 13:13:29 UTC
I'm planning on using the following use flags for dev-lang/php

dev-lang/php -* cli apache2 ctype expat fastbuild gd iconv memlimit mysql nls pcre posix session sockets ssl tokenizer truetype unicode xml zlib

This is the same that I used for forums.g.o which seem to work well. Please double check all your apps to make sure this is all the flags we need.

Do any of you have a preferred time for me to work on this? My next week is going to be a little crazy, but I may be able to squeeze it in this week.

Should be okay with the bugday code AFAIK, at least the new code base, the old code base should be okay too.
Comment 6 Bryan Østergaard (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-09 14:50:49 UTC
Bugday people are happy with any schedule as long as you allow us a couple days before next bugday to test and make sure everything is still working :)
Comment 7 Lance Albertson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-09 15:22:26 UTC
Just a note of clarification. I won't be upgrading to php-5. I'm changing to the newer dev-lang/php and keeping 4.x as the default.

Do you need someone to take over the admin of the dev-wiki full-time or just this one time upgrade?

If your looking for someone full-time then I'll take it if Tom doesn't want it.

packages.g.o should be fine so long as settings remain similiar. Let let me know when this will go down so I can make myself available.

We ended up doing this on a whim. I think I fixed all the issues, but let me know if I missed anything.
