Since upgrading my system to 1.5GB RAM, and replacing my 160GB 2nd disk with a 320GB (logical partitions only), new eltorito-based Grub CDs are failing.

See also my comments to Grub bug # 14758 at http://tinyurl.com/g5zg3

I tried every version of grub in portage, from 0.96-r1 through 0.97-r2. All gave Error 25.

I re-compiled without high mem - no change.

On Slax 5.1.4 however, I found grub-0.95 worked OK. However grub-0.97 failed just like Gentoo.

On Kanotix 'Easter Edition' grub-0.97.7.1 works perfectly OK.

Using copies of the 'good' stage2_eltorito files from Slax & Kanotix to make my Grub CDs on Gentoo works perfectly..
Comment 1 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2006-05-09 17:38:24 UTC
upstream doesnt care about grub-0.x
Comment 2 Gerald Fraser 2006-05-10 03:43:09 UTC
Thats great! And 1.93 has no stage2_eltorito equivalent by the look of it..

Surely 0.97-r* could be modified to take advantage of the Debian 0.97.7.1 stage2_eltorito file?
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2006-09-07 22:45:11 UTC
should be fixed in 0.97-r3
