i started the v1.4rc livecd and found the following glitches. in the normal kernel output i found: KMOD: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno =2 this one was repeated 2 times then --Scanning for aic7xxx <--- this took about 15 minutes and the cd rom starts and stops all the time the system told that it had finally found an aic7xxx then i had to choose the keymap --Mounting the CD Mount: Mounting /newroot/dev/cdroms/* on /newroot/mnc/cdrom failed: no such file or directory --CD not found umount /newroot: Device or Resource busy thats it installation stops because my scsi cdrom wasnt detected properly i think the system i used : amd athlon xp 2100+ on abit kt333 mainboard yamaha crw3200s on an adaptec 2940uw (an 2940u was tested too) harddisks 45gb ibm , 60gb ibm , 100gb ibm all ide
i've the same issue with livecd-experimental-rc4-04-10-03.iso
did you try the second kernel (smp) on livecd-experimental-rc4-04-10-03.iso? it might let me know if the newest aic79xx drivers are breaking this , second kernel is vanilla scsi
doesn't work eighter
seems to work if i put a ide harddisk into the system. this bug seems to be fixed, and my bug seems to be released to bug #11275 after pressing enter on the kernel selector, it loads kernel and initrd. after it the screen clears and freeze the system. the cursor is blinking in the left upper corner.
I am getting very similar behavior with the i686 1.4-20030911 CD. Specs: Abit Nv7m w 1.3 Ghz Duron using onboard video, onboard sound, onboard NIC AHA-2940UW with bios 2.2 (this is the only board in my box) Plextor 20TS SCSI CD-ROM Smart and Friendly 4/2 SCSI CD-R IDE hard drives I update the 2940s BIOS, but that didn't help. I've tried booting in both CD drives and the behavior is the same. For normal (no options) boot: I get exactly the same behavior as that of the original description with the exception of missing the "Scanning for aic7xxx" and the request for choosing a keymap. For gentoo doscsi: I never get past the pretty boot screen. It has stayed there for 45 minutes before I gave up. It seems to be spinning the CD drive the entire time.
Could someone with this hardware please test the current testing LiveCD?
Please reopen if issue exists with new livecds.
