Description Bill Krueger 2006-05-05 12:25:43 UTC
When I have USE="gstreamer" specified and do emerge -pv kdemultimedia I get the following list:

-----------------------------------------------------------------
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild N ] gnome-base/orbit-2.12.5 USE="doc ssl -debug -static" 0 kB
[ebuild N ] gnome-base/gconf-2.12.1-r1 USE="doc -debug" 0 kB
[ebuild N ] media-libs/gst-plugins-0.8.12 USE="alsa oss -debug -esd" 0 kB
[ebuild N ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-flac-0.8.12 0 kB
[ebuild NS ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-alsa-0.8.12 0 kB
[ebuild NS ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-oss-0.8.12 0 kB
[ebuild NS ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-vorbis-0.8.12 0 kB
[ebuild NS ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-mad-0.8.12 0 kB
[ebuild NS ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-ogg-0.8.12 0 kB
[ebuild U ] kde-base/kdemultimedia-3.5.2-r2 [3.5.2-r1] USE="alsa encode flac gstreamer mp3 theora vorbis -arts -audiofile -debug -kdeenablefinal -musicbrainz -xine -xinerama" 0 kB
----------------------------------

I also have -gstreamer08 and gstreamer010 coded in my USE= in my make.conf.

I already have gstreamer-0.10.5 and gst-plugins-base-0.10.6 installed so I don't know why the 0.8* versions are being requested. If I remove USE="gstreamer" then these plugins aren't being requested. So, with my limited understanding of gstreamer's version numbers, it seems to me that kdemultimedia should honour the latest version (0.10.*). Can this be corrected?

The applications do not work with Gstreamer 0.10.
