Description Jared H. Hudson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-01-04 03:16:36 UTC
Section: 1.About the Install
Paragraph: 4th
Sentence: So, how does one beging the install process?
Correction: beging should be begin

Section: 3.Load Kernel Modules
Code listing: 3.3
Correction: example of modules that could be loaded for ata raid should be
modprobe'd not insmod'd.
this.

Section: 4.Loading PCMCIA Kernel Modules
Code listing: 4.1
Correction: example of modules that could be loaded for pcmcia should be
modprobe'd not insmod'd.

Section: 5.Configuring Networking
Code listing: 5.6
Currently:
# export http_proxy="machine.company.com:1234"
# export ftp_proxy="$http_proxy"
# export RSYNC_PROXY="$http_proxy"
Should be:
# export HTTP_PROXY="machine.company.com:1234"
# export FTP_PROXY="$HTTP_PROXY"
# export RSYNC_PROXY="$HTTP_PROXY"
Note: only rsync_proxy was capitalized before.

Section: 6.Partition Configuration
Code listing 6.4: Creating a XFS Filesystem
Under the Warning about installing a XFS filesystem over a previously
installed reiserfs filesystem, the documentation suggests that you
run "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hdx bs=1k", but the documentation in
Code listing 6.1, suggests that you run
"dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hdxy bs=1024 count=1024"
Since the purpose of both of these commands is the same, we should standardize
on which command we think the user should run.
