alsa-driver should check the kernel configuration for static/dynamic devfs or udev, and create /dev nodes accordingly.  (It should perhaps, for instance, warn that neither is enabled and that it's defaulting to static devfs or whatever.

devfs is dead... If you are using static dev, it's your decision and your responsibility to maintain the devices as you need.
