Description fturtle 2006-04-29 15:26:11 UTC
There's a hard coded dependency upon cups that can't be met due to version no longer being available on mirrors. Only version now available is 1.1.23

MY_PN="gnu-ghostscript"
MY_P=${MY_PN}-${PV}
CUPS_PV=1.1.20

This straight from the ebuild.

Work around:
/etc/portage/package.keywords
app-text/ghostscript-gnu-8.16-r2 ~x86

This is a show stopper because cups-1.1.20 is no longer on any mirrors. Cups fails verification because it's not the same size as digest.

this has been fixed some time ago, resync and try again

Time of problem was date 042903302006 PDT that this happened on a clean stage3 default install after sync and portage upgrades. According to ghostrscript-gnu-8.16-r2, it's still ~x86 branch and according to online packages, it's still going to occur as it's hard coded for a specific version of cups CUPS_PV=1.1.20

instead of coded CUPS_PV>=1.1.20

It's going to continue biting folks in the arse and after a fresh forum thread, I figured it was better to indicate a successful solution that did not use a hard coded version dependency for future sanity.
