The ASUS MB A7V8X is a new KT400-based Athlon Mobo. It contains (in my case) a 100Mbps Ethernet controller from Broadcom, called BCM4401. The included ASUS CD contains a GPLed driver in source form. Since ASUS MBs are quite popular, one can expect that many people will have the BCM4401 as their only Ethernet chip. Therefore, the boot CD should have a driver for it. Please note that there is also a variant of the A7V8X with an on-board GigE controller, also from Broadcom, with number BCM5702. See http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/selectftp.aspx?l1_id=1&l2_id=10&l3_id=18&m_id=2&f_name=4401_653.zip~zaqwedc ftp://www.procaptura.com/pub/SPRMS/bcm4400-1.0.1-0pcap.src.rpm http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=76516 PS: Unfortunately, the onboard IDE RAID chip from Promise with SATA-150 support, the PDC20376, is also not supported. I have not been able to find a Linux driver for it so far.
Thanks. I'm going to integrate this in one of our next xfs-sources releases.
adding the bcm4400 modules to livecd, and a ebuild is being made for them temporarily.. 2.4.21 should contain these drivers
