for those of you that updated to 1.67 yourself and found yourself without any NPC's anywhere:

http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=478668&forum=72&sp=30

Hi all,

If you've downloaded any of the patches for linux 1.67 and you have a problem with SOU (or any NPC's not spawning), there was an error in the build of the final patches that resulted in a .o file being wrong, which caused problems. This has been fixed, and the patches have been updated. For those who have already downloaded the 1.67 patch, there is a "small" update available to fix the affected files at http://files.bioware.com/neverwinternights/updates/linux/167/linuxclient167fix.tar.gz

If you have the English XP1 or XP2 patch, you should also remove the dialogf.tlk file as it does not belong there either.

Sorry for the confusion.

Owen.

According to the 1.67 FAQ they are compatable:
Will my savegames still work with patch 1.67?
Yes, our patches do not break savegame compatibility.

it was mentioned by a moderator that they wouldn't be compatible, and I've seen it myself -- my savegames got screwed over along with a couple of my friends. Even with the 1.67 fix (original 1.67 release was broken for Linux), I was missing all the NPCs.

?

Just what I've experienced....

I've been working on it since you told me on IRC. It sucks that I didn't keep all of the distfiles that I had before, so this'll take a little while longer than I had hoped.

I've now updated to 1.67 in portage for both the split and the unsplit ebuilds. I tested both versions and was able to load my saved games perfectly fine.
