Description David Relson 2006-04-22 11:08:45 UTC
I'm installing from the LiveCD 2006.0. From the GUI, I started with the graphical installer which ran into trouble. So I switched to the command line installer and continued using the installprofile.xml (from the GLI) as my base. After several hours and emerging multiple packages the installer displayed the following:

There was an Exception received during the install that is outside of
the normal install errors. This is a bad thing. The error
was:EmergePackageError :FATAL: emerge: Could not emerge
    gnome-extra/gcalctool-5.6.31!

Please submit a bug report (after searching to make sure it's not a
known issue and verifying you didn't do something stupid) with the
contents of /var/log/install.log and /tmp/installprofile.xml and the
version of the installer you used.

Below are the contents of files /var/log/installer.log.failed, /tmp/installprofile.xml, and the output of "emerge --info"

Emerge errors are not a problem with the installer.
Please change your USE flags or choose less additional packages to install next time.

Since this error occurred in the installation of extra packages step, you can reboot into your new system and emerge the packages, and add the user following the handbook.
