sunsite.dk rsync server seemed to rsync 12000 files unneccessarily last night. might want to double check the working of it. This was last night and either sunsite cause my tree to be way out of sync or fixed it, I'm not certain now as portage doesn't report which rsync server was used anyway near the end of the transmission. This should probably be added. Will add a bug report to carpaski about that after this one to help solve these problems. But anyway, even with the recent rules to stop this, there are still a few out of date rsync servers it appears.
is there any way to check, when the server has been updated last time ? maybe we should add a kind of feature, asking this time and it should not differ more than eg. 12 h. if so rsync should choose the next server.
i checked that, sunsite.dk was last updated on 28th december, so i put it out of the round-robin and mailed the admin.. as soon as he fixed it ill put it back to the round-robin and close that bug.. Martin: i have such a script, i run it once a week then i can see which servers are outdated.. regards
Sascha: is it possible to include this feature in emerge ?
martin: hmm no thats a script for me only.. i can detect damaged rsync servers and so on but that isnt good for portage, ask carpaski whether he can write something like that for portage..
i'll do so
sunsite has problem with their connections so they stopped syncing on all their servers.. but they try to fix it as soon as possible..
server is fixed and up again... regards
