Hi, 

Would it be possible to include the glibc powerpc cpu addon written by the IBM developer Steve Munroe in the glibc ebuild.  

It allows the selection of and optimization for specific ppc architectures. 

As of now, it features optimizations for the memcpy, memcmp, and memset. 

According to said developer, "hand tuned 32-bit versions of memcpy and memcmp show 50-75% improvement on the 970 over the generic implementation from glibc mainline" (http://penguinppc.org/dev/glibc/glibc-powerpc-cpu-addon.html).
