The rsync server rsync5.de.gentoo.org seems broken. 
Note: I did *not* sync in the 5/35.

# emerge --sync
Using PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS instead of hardcoded defaults

Make sure you use the gentoo-portage
module, not the deprecated
gentoo-x86-portage module!
