For some reason, my thoggen.desktop file contained the following incorrect entries: _Name=Thoggen DVD Ripper _Comment=Extracts Video from your DVDs Due to the incorrect entries, no menu item was displayed for thoggen. By editing /usr/share/applications/thoggen.desktop and removing the underscores, thoggen menu item now appears (after logging out and back in).
