Description Joe McMahon 2002-12-31 10:54:54 UTC
Booting the current ISO on a dual 867 MHz G4 results in no disk devices being visible for
install. I believe that this is caused by the ATA 100 bus not bing supported by the kernel;
unfortunately I have no means of compliling a more recent kernel.

Power Macintosh G4 dual 867 MHz - 1.25 GHz

* This model Power Macintosh requires a new kernel to support the internal ATA 100
drive chain. Until this is perfected, you may simply move your drive(s) to the ATA 66
chain.

Does anyone happen to know if the latest benh kernel has already got support? If so, we
might consider upgrading the 2.4.20-rc1-ben0 kernel to a 2.4.20-ben1 kernel.
Comment 2 Mark Guertin 2003-01-01 16:27:41 UTC
afaik it is still not supported, and to install you _must_ connect a drive to
the ata66 bus :(
Comment 3 Mark Guertin 2003-01-03 09:33:44 UTC
yes I confirmed it last night, there is still not ata100 support for these
machines in latest benh or bk trees. You will have to connect a drive to the
ata66 bus and try from there, sorry

Going to mark this closed as CANT_FIX (at least until we have the option of
fixing it).
