I have emerged openoffice-bin 2.0.2 on my AMD64 machine and to my surprise it crashes whenever I type a special character like á, é, ó etc. The widgets also have the windows look. I have emerged with both the gnome and java use flags. emerge --info Portage 2.0.54 (default-linux/amd64/2005.1, gcc-3.4.5, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.14 distcc 2.18.3 x86_64-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=k8 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib64/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/eselect/compiler /etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=k8 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://mirror.datapipe.net/gentoo http://mirror.datapipe.net/gentoo http://gentoo.seren.com/gentoo ftp://gentoo.netnitco.net/pub/mirrors/gentoo/source/" LINGUAS="pt_BR en" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/gentopia" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 3dnowex X a52 aac acl acpi aim aimextras alsa apache2 arts artswrappersuid audiofile authdaemond automount avi berkdb bidi bitmap-fonts bluetooth bonobo bootsplash browserplugin bzip2 bzlib calendar canna caps cdparanoia cdr chroot cjki cli crypt css cups curl curlwrappers dba dbus dga divx4linux doc dpms dri dts dv dvb dvd dvdr dvdread eds emboss encode esd ethereal evo exif expat fam fbcon fbsplash ffmpeg firefox flac foomaticdb fortran ftp gd gdbm geoip gif glut gmail gmailtimestamps gmp gnome gnutls gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hal i8x0 iconv idn imagemagick imap imlib innodb interbase ipv6 isdnlog java jpeg jpeg2k junit kde kdeenablefinal kerberos lcms ldap libwww lm_sensors lzw lzw-tiff mad maildir mailwrapper mcal mhash mime ming mjpeg mmap mng mono mozdevelop mozilla mozsvg mp3 mpeg mpeg2 mpeg4 mplayer mppe-mppc msn multislot mysql mysqli nas ncurses nethack nls nptl nsplugin ntfs nvidia oav odbc offensive ogg oggvorbis openal opengl oss pam pcntl pcre pda pdflib perl php pic plotutils png posix postgres ppds pppd prelude profile python qemu-fast qt quicktime rdesktop readline rtc samba sasl scanner screen sdl sensord session shared slang slp sndfile snmp soap sockets sox speex spell spl sql sqlite ssl subversion svg svgz symlink tcltk tcpd tetex theora threads tidy tiff tokenizer transcode truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb utf8 vcd vcdimager vda vhosts vim vim-pager vim-with-x virus-scan visualization vorbis wddx web webdav wifi win32 wmf xine xml xml2 xmlrpc xmms xpm xprint xscreensaver xsl xv xvid yahoo zlib linguas_pt_BR linguas_en userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS
Can't reproduce on x86, re-assigning
Widgets default to windows, you can change them in the settings. I can't reproduce the crashes here (but I don't have java).
Reemerging it without the java USE flag apparently solved it. This makes this bug less of a pain for many users, including me. Nevertheless, there is functionality which will be needed by many users by having the java flag.
hmm, even though I can type properly now, OO freezes instantly and hogs the cpu if I open Tools > Options and click the 'Java' section. (USE="-java")
Danger, will robinson!, after a few system updates this problem crept back. I tried to reemerge openoffice-bin alternating the gnome and java flags to their on and off states, but it crashed every time. Only happens on AMD64

Is this still an issue with 2.0.3?
ooops
I really would need some feedback here, so: Is it still an issue with 2.0.3 (or even 2.0.4_rc1)? 2.0.2 is not even in the tree anymore, so if there is no more input, I'll have to close this bug...
2.0.3 is working fine (with java USE flag), at least for me.
