Maybe. 4191 already have the page-alloc patch applied. It could also be a kernel issue. Try to use a vanilla kernel, and see what happens. BTW, how frequent does this happen ?
this was the first time, I just compiled a new kernel (lolo-sources 2.4.20 -r1 pre8) and the new nvidia drivers (because the old didn't work with lolo-sources) in the following thread: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=27890 i already seek help for my really unstable system after a CPU upgrade. Because i became very sick of the unstable system i tried several things at once (older mobo bios, newer kernel newer nvidia drivers) no kernel panics but now this .. so i though the little animal got a name and the nvidia drivers where to blame for all of it all along. I'll use the vanilla kernel for some time and see what happens :/
Didn't happen again with vanilla-sources But i think i'll swith back to the nvidia 3XXX because performance of 4191 is really bad and I can't swtich to a console because I get a 'out of range' from my monitor :(
Still using vanilla, or does latest lolo-sources/gentoo-sources fix this ?
I'm using Linux 2.4.20-gentoo-r1 atm, but with Nvidia 3XXX because I get an "out of sync" from my monitor when i want to switch to a console (alt FX) and 4191 gave me bad 2d performance :) so I quess you can close the bug report
Sure you have the refresh rates for you monitor set correctly ?
both Horizontal and vertical directly from the IBM site :) I got it once yesterday, but that was under heavy load and was fixed within 5 seconds :/
