After trying (the masked package) xorg-server-1.0.99.2, I note that xf86-video-sunffb can neither build nor run: 1. When you "run" it, you get (EE) SUNFFB: Failed to load module "xf8_32wid" (module does not exist, 0) 2. When you try to build it, you get ffb_circle.c:44:24: cfb8_32wid.h: No such file or directory Looking at the build tree for this version of xorg-server, it seems that hw/xfree86/xf8_32wid no longer exists. Upstream bug at: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6570 (If 1.0.99.xx series get unmasked with this problem outstanding, severity moves to Blocker, of course.)
Hm, https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6570#c1 claims fixed for sunffb in CVS, but there is no bug on it.
You are correct. They are not compatible. There are new releases of every single driver to be compatible with ABI breaks and lots of changes in the framebuffer code. Therefore I'm changing the purpose of this bug to be a request for those new drivers.
All the driver updates available from upstream are in the tree now.
