Description Rich Zeliff 2006-04-10 04:38:02 UTC
When doing an initial install on host from the 2006.0 livecd (using the graphical installer) encountered the following error:

In the installer "Output" window:

>>> emerge (2 of 4) app-text/poppler-0.4.3-r4 to /
Exception received:
EmergePackageError :FATAL: emerge: Could not emerge net-print/cups-1.1.23-r7!
Please submit a bug report (after searching to make sure it's not a known issue and verifying you didn't do something stupid) with the contents of /var/log/install.log and /tmp/installprofile.xml and the version of the installer you used

In the installer "Log" window:

GLI: April 10 2006 08:01:59 - Exception received during 'Installing additional packages.': EmergePackageError :FATAL: emerge: Could not emerge net-print/cups-1.1.23-r7!

/var/log/install.log did not exist either on the memory-resident filesystem or on the hard disk. /tmp/installprofile.xml will be attached.

You haven't given any context in the logs/output, but I'm pretty sure this was just a compile failure (or some other general emerge error), which is *not* an installer bug. Try your install again using the "normal" or "webrsync" option to get an updated tree. It doesn't make sense to use the on-CD snapshot if you're not using GRP.
