libsynaptics (0.14.4d) cannot do its job for ksynaptics (0.3.1) unless the synaptics driver (0.14.4) is installed on the system, so I think it would be nice not let to user the task to emerge in another process the synaptics driver, because if he doesn't know that this package is needed, he would certainly waste some time in google looking for an answer, as I did.

Also, it should be noted that the libsynaptics requires an explicit minimum version of synaptics driver. Synaptics driver 0.14.5 cannot be used with libsynaptics 0.14.4 and so on. Libsynaptics *can* be newer than the synaptics driver, but not vice versa, so please add dependencies/blockers.
Bump. This bug is one year old.... It doesn't seem hard to fix and I think it is causing frustrations to some people. Besides I guess it is blocking the stabilization of ksynaptics, which is a very good application. I've been using it for this whole year without a single problem or crash. And I think ksynaptics is indispensable for any laptop KDE user! Thanks Carlos
as of the README of this package, xorg synaptics driver >= 0.14.4 is required. I just added it, including a big sorry for the delay. New emerge's shall respect the new (R)DEPEND.
