Description Tim Holmes 2006-04-08 08:20:38 UTC
I have had 2 different installs from the installer CD fail because of fails to emerge packages -- it looks to me like the portage tree has changed since the Installer CD was written, and thus it needs an emerge sync before it begins the package installations

failures to emerge are almost always related to the USE flags you select for your install. Try selecting less USE flags. In the portage screen you can choose which method of sync'ing portage to use. This sync occurs before any emerges take place on the new system.

Furthermore, if an emerge failed during the last step of emerging additional packages, you should still be left with a bootable system. Try booting and then emerging manually from the new system.

W8TAH codeman -- if that was in response to my bug and earlier questions, the install looks valid now, i finished it and im doing the post install (fluxbox and deps etc)
