Description Erik 2006-04-07 05:42:12 UTC
dev-util/valgrind-2.4.0 depends on virtual/x11 and therefore does not work
with modular X. So please stabilize 2.4.1 or higher.

x86 arch team, none of valgrind's versions is perfect, but to choose the ones
with the least problems, I'd go for either 3.0.1-r1 or 3.1.0.

Some problems in 3.0.1-r1 have been fixed in 3.1.0 as the changelog shows.
3.1.0 and higher on the other hand currently have open bug #128684.
However, it could well be that 3.0.1-r1 suffers from the same problem.

What is your opinion in the matter? Which version would you prefer to stabilize?
Comment 2 Erik 2006-04-08 13:06:42 UTC
The version I have is 3.1.1 and it starts, so it does not have bug #128684 (for me).

3.1.1 doesn't seem to suffer from the issue, so its been marked stable, I actually got return data from multiple programs.

3.1.1 for certain also shows this problem. It's just not a problem that occurs in all configurations.

The reason I did not recommend this version is that it has only been in the tree
for a short while.

But never mind, let's see how this works out.
