On the aforementioned bit of kit, cdrtools-2.01-r3.ebuild doesn't work because the source tarball doesn't know anything about the slug's underlying architecture. I took the patch from the Unslung project for cdrecord (available at http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/nslu/unslung/sources/cdrtools/), modified it slightly (the ID string is slightly different under Gentoo than under Unslung/OpenSlug), and got it to build. Once I get a DVD burner installed in a USB case, I'll be able to test it to verify that the slug can burn CDs, but since a binary build of cdrtools is already available for other distros, I'm optimistic that this will run as well. The revised ebuild and patch will be attached momentarily.

i doubt you need all of that ... what's wrong with a link at the end of src_unpack like all other arches ?
The patches are extremely obsolete; if it still doesn't work w/ 2.01.01_alpha36 out of the box, then Comment #3 and attach an updated patch, thanks.
Unfortunately, I killed my slug a while back with an attempted memory upgrade. :-( I don't have a way to test this, as I haven't bought a replacement.
