Description Jared H. Hudson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-12-29 04:35:22 UTC
Gnome prints a error about being unable to access /dev/sound/mixer if you dont
have a sound card loaded when it starts. Not sure what's the best fix for this
is, but I still thought I'd let you know.

hmm, this is esd accessing, or attempting to access, the sound.

Disabling ESD (which happens) is one solution, but I'm not sure of a proper
"fix" for it, since it appears to be the thing that happens if you launch any
sound app without having a soundcard configured...

This is just a warning message, if you disable sound server startup in the gnome
settings does it still show ? if not it isn't a bug imo.
