nvidia-kernel fails to compile if you do not have a /usr/src/linux and have
performed a make config/menuconfig/xconfig and make dep in that directory. The
nvidia-kernel package needs to check for this, which it can do by looking for
modversions.h in /usr/src/linux/include/linux and telling the user what to do
otherwise and then quitting gracefully. This change needs to be back-ported to
older ebuilds or the latest made stable so that this check and warning can be
available in 1.4/1.4_rc3

i guess we also need to finish moving all the kernels to sys-kmods
