Maybe it's a strange bug report, but the ebuild for the beep media player is gone. Is there any reason for it?

See, http://bmpx.beep-media-player.org/site/Downloads#Gentoo_Linux and http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122930 howto get latest BMPx.

It will be released as Beep Media Player 2.0 at some point.

Beep Media Player 1.x is killed by upstream, and thus no longer in portage.

Yes, removed from portage. Use audacious instead.
