Hi, I can't help but notice that the kbd package completely lacks any Apple Macintosh USB keyboard layouts. This isn't a failing in the gentoo ebuild as such, but since there is a Gentoo PPC it's quite sorely lacking layouts for the variations in the Mac USB keyboards (e.g. a Mac USB UK keyboard is a US keyboard layout but with £ where $ is, and # is obtained by right-alt+3, plus has a euro symbol). The 'macintosh' layouts in /usr/share/keymaps/mac/all/ are okay for the ADB keyboards, but the scancodes are completely different for USB keyboards and loading them remaps the keys to unusable states (you'll have to piece together a commandline using gpm mouse cut/paste to reset it!). I couldn't help noticing that the console-data package in Debian has mac-usb-* layouts (there is a console-data_20060317 in the package pool). Whilst these keymaps make up for the lack of mac-usb keymaps, they are still not perfect: the 'white' Apple Pro UK Keyboard (wireless & wired varieties) has a backtick/tilde key next to left shift, and a topright section/plus-minus key and neither are mapped correctly using the mac-usb-uk layout. I *think* Xorg also suffers these problems, but that's a totally different package entirely. Would it be possible to import these [mac-usb-*] layouts into the kbd ebuild? I can offer help in providing modified maps for mac-usb-pro-* layouts. Hope this makes sense, rob [ Searching for package 'kbd' in all categories among: ] * installed packages [I--] [ ] sys-apps/kbd-1.12-r6 (0)

No response, please get the layouts accepted with upstream and we'll get the fix for free. :)
